Our San Francisco Bay Area – based AI Robotics Startup Client is hiring a Senior Electrical/Hardware Engineer to own electrical/hardware system integration across their cutting-edge robotics platforms. You’ll be the go-to expert for power electronics, EMC, and sensor integration, bridging the gap between software/firmware and physical motion control as we build the world’s first general-purpose robotic intelligence.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, test, and validate power and sensor electronics systems.
- Design and validate motor driver circuits and power electronics systems.
- Integrate and fuse sensor data, including IMUs, encoders, hall sensors, and temperature sensors at the PCB level.
- Define grounding, bonding, shielding, filtering, and cable strategies across the robot.
- Identify EMC risks early and drive practical mitigations before they become late-stage issues.
- Debug EMC and hardware issues using scopes, spectrum analyzers, probes, LISNs, network analyzers, and other lab equipment.
- Make system-level tradeoffs across performance, risk, cost, schedule, and manufacturability.
- Partner across EE, ME, firmware, controls, systems, manufacturing, and external labs and consultants.
- Document design processes and contribute to hardware best practices.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
- 5+ years of working experience with robotics, mechatronics, power electronics, EMC/EMI design, and debugging of complex hardware.
- Proficiency in power electronics design — motor drives, switching power supplies, high-current DC systems, and battery management.
- Strong PCB design and layout skills with a system-level approach to EMC problems.
- Familiarity with sensor integration (IMUs, encoders, hall sensors) and protocols (CAN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, RS-485).
Immigration/Visa Requirements:
- All candidates MUST reside in the San Francisco Bay/Silicon Valley Area.
- Open to Visa transfers (e.g. OPT, H1B transfers)
